Election Time Again!

Dear Fellow Democrats:

The spring has proven to be a busy season with many local special elections and a constantly shifting landscape in the lead up to the June 2008 Primary Election.

WHAT WOULD YOU ASK?

The San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee is starting its endorsement process for the June 8, 2010 election, which will include contested races for the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, County Assessor-Clerk-Recorder, County Coroner and County Tax Collector-Treasurer. There are many Democrats running for these seats, and the San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee will be endorsing in these races likely at a special meeting at the end of March or in early April.

What questions should the Democratic Central Committee ask candidates seeking the Democratic Party endorsement? What should the Committee focus on when it makes its endorsement decisions? Please email your suggestions to Nick Akers, Endorsements Committee Chair, at nicklas.akers@gmail.com.

CRITICAL LOCAL MEASURES

At the February 18, 2010 General Meeting of the San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee, the Committee endorsed measures C and D on the ballot on May 4, 2010 in Special, all mail-in, elections in the Portola Valley Elementary and Menlo Park City school districts. We urge all Democrats residing in those districts to support these important local measures.

STATE OFFICE ENDORSEMENTS

This spring, the California Democratic Party will also sponsor local endorsement conferences for Congressional, State Senate and Assembly races in anticipation of the State Democratic Party Convention in April.

The Pre-Endorsement conferences for Assembly, even-numbered Senate and Congressional candidates will take place March 20 - 21. Each Region will hold a pre-endorsement conference with assigned Assembly, Senate and Congressional Districts.
